Course description

In this seminar we will learn about the different ways of thinking among Israelis and the Muslim world, as a particular case of the thinking gap between the East and the West. We will learn how to understand and "speak" in the second cultural language, as well as how the other side should approach us in order to avoid blockages. The seminar will impart precise tools to the participants at the level of the sentence and the word, illustrated by many examples from negotiations conducted between Israelis and the Americans, on the one hand, and the Muslim world, on the other. At the end of the seminar, on the basis of the principles they were taught, the students will write a speech to the Muslim world – to a particular group within it, or on a subject relevant to it.

Seminar program:

  1. First session: Introduction to the development of two cultural "languages" – the Eastern and the Western. Required reading: Introduction.
In this session the students will complete the Thinking Vector Questionnaire in order to identify and become familiar with their mode of thinking.
