Leah Croughan - USA
Prior to enrolling in the program, I had lived in Israel for several years working in the non-profit sector and had become increasingly interested in the security field. After looking into various masters programs both in Israel and abroad, the MA program in security and diplomacy was the perfect fit. It was the only program that provided the nexus between security and diplomacy, a wide range of courses, security field trips and assistance finding internships in the field.
The faculty and staff encouraged us to pursue internships during the program and I was offered a position at a private security firm where I still work today. I doubt I would have found this job had I not enrolled in this particular MA program. Throughout the course of the program, I developed a more profound interest in terrorism, which became the focus of my Master’s Thesis. Having completed the program, I am still in contact with my thesis advisor who is currently helping me publish my thesis.
Everyone came to the program for a different reason---some seeking to study in Israel, others looking to begin a career focusing on security in the Middle East and/or diplomacy, while others wanted to come to Israel for the first time and experience everything this country has to offer. This is the beauty of the program. Regardless of your focus, this program has something different to give to each person and all of the opportunities are there at your disposal. I highly recommend the program to anyone who wants a well-rounded experience.
